About us

The church stems from small beginnings in the late 1950’s.  You can read more about this by clicking on "The church in the village" link on the left.   Grimethorpe is a former coal-mining community with a population of less than 4,000 people.  There are 2 Junior and Infant schools (Ladywood and Milefield) and a secondary school (Willowgarth).

It is the heart of this church to reach out into the community, offering support,  help and advice as required and a friendly ear for newcomers to the area.  To this end we run several clubs, including lunch club, toddler club and kids' holiday club, which you cn find out more about by clicking the "Ministries" link on the left.

Over many years there has been active partnership with the local schools and a variety of community groups.  The Church has a town wide perspective, and holds regular prayer for all the areas in the Borough of Barnsley (a town of 250,000 approx).  There are happy relationships with other Churches throughout the area, and being part of the fellowship of Assemblies of God .  There are strong and vibrant links at both regional and national level.
